Tyler Blackmon of Yale College Democrats says the tea party has "actively rooted" for the failure of the Affordable Care Act.

"Would you rather go back to the system where we were able to charge for pre-existing conditions?" he told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

Story continues below video.

Blackmon defended President Barack Obama, who promised that anybody who wants to keep their present insurance policy can do so — only to see insurers cancel the policies of hundreds of thousands of people.

"People are getting these notices because they have changes in their policy. Now, that is exactly what was supposed to happen," he said.
