The Obama administration is lying about the true number of Americans who have signed up for insurance under the Affordable Care Act and it is nowhere near 7.1 million as claimed, U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly of Pennsylvania says.
"There's a saying out there that figures don't lie but liars can't figure," Kelly, a Republican, told "The Steve Malzberg Show" Thursday on Newsmax TV.
"These folks take any number they want and they jostle it around, they twist it, they turn it, they use different thoughts, and it all comes down to the same thing."
Kelly said President Barack Obama long ago "lost credibility" on anything he has said about the benefits of the Affordable Care Act.

"Now [he is] trying to regain it and I see these folks walking around here with these patches on that say 7.1 million proud," Kelly said.
"[But] everybody realized that the emperor has no clothes on this one … People understand it now more clearly than they ever have before … that it's bad for America.
"This was never about healthcare itself. This was about signing up for insurance … It was supposed to be affordable and accessible healthcare. The one thing we know right now, the numbers aren't affordable."
Kelly expects the Affordable Care Act to become even less affordable as time goes on.
"Wait until next year as we start to peel away these different layers of the onion and find out just how much this piece of legislation is really going to cost," he said.
