Washington Times columnist Charles Hurt says that President Barack Obama's claim that 7 million Americans have signed up for the Affordable Care Act is fantasy and that the actual number is dramatically lower.

"You read the stories today where every single major newspaper out there went for this whole fantastic fantasy world where . . . it bumped him up to 7 million people enrolled in Obamacare," Hurt told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"Absolutely not a word of questioning about these numbers — which are totally fraudulent," he said Wednesday.

Story continues below video.

Hurt said that considering the millions of Americans who lost their health insurance because it didn't conform to the regulations of the ACA, "it's not 7 million, it's nowhere near 7 million."

"It's in the hundreds of thousands, and, of course, the whole reason that they did Obamacare was to insure people that weren't insured. It's totally bogus."
