Sen. Ted Cruz isn't worried about fellow Republicans' unkind words for him over defunding Obamacare, but he has some words of warning for them: They should stand united to prevent an easy victory by the Democrats.
"They can launch whatever personal insults they want," Cruz told CNN's "The Situation Room
" on Monday. Reporter Dana Bash reminded Cruz that Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., accused him of not knowing how to count
, and Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., said his strategy was a fraud
"I would note in the House that the Republicans, including those who have criticized me, voted to defund Obamacare
," Cruz said. "I believe every Senate Republican should stand united."
Any senator who votes for cloture, which would end debate, on the current bill to defund the Affordable Care Act is voting to give Democrats an easy victory, he said.
"I hope all 46 Senate Republicans stand united against cloture on this bill because no Senate Republican wants to give (Senate Majority Leader) Harry Reid the ability to use 51 votes to fund Obamacare."
