Byron York, chief political correspondent at the Washington Examiner, believes a deal is in the works between Republican and Democratic lawmakers that would solve the budget and debt ceiling crisis.

"There appears to be some sort of progress between basically [Senate Minority Leader] Mitch McConnell and [Senate Majority Leader] Harry Reid," York Told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

Story continues below video.

"There could be some sort of deal worked out in the Senate that would both reopen the government with a continuing resolution of some duration and also lift the debt limit."

But the wild card, York said, is the House of Representatives.

"The Senate and the president can't just make a deal and leave the House out of it," he said.

"The theory in the Senate has been that there's an overwhelming bipartisan vote on something in the Senate and that will create a lot of pressure in the House to act, but we don't know if that's true or not."
