President Barack Obama would have not hesitated to have called the 2009 Fort Hood bloodbath a terrorist attack if the crazed gunman had been Christian, Rep. Steve Stockman of (R - Tex.) says.

"This president has consistently sided with the radicals, even in overseas he's sided with [former Egyptian President Mohamed] Morsi and everything," Stockman said on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV. "It's like, it walks like a duck, talks like a duck … Guaranteed if it was a Christian doing it, he would have called it a terrorist thing."

On November 5, 2009, Nidal Malik Hasan, a U.S. Army major and psychiatrist, fatally shot 13 people and injured more than 30 others at the Texas military base.

To this day, the government has refused to label the horrifying violence a terror attack despite indications it may have been.

And lawmakers have yet to pass legislation to once again allow servicemen and women to carry firearms on bases — something that opponents of the restriction argue could have prevented this week's shootings at Fort Hood in which a gunman killed three people, and then himself.

Stockman authored the failed 2013 Safe Military Bases Act that would have allow soldiers to be armed.

"I just don't understand it. It's baffling to me, and these are our men and women who voluntarily offer their lives up to defend their nation and this guy can't even recognize a terrorist act when he's yelling out 'Akbar' and things like that. It's bizarre," Stockman said.

"This is just idiocy, but it was put in place and reinforced by two presidents who are anti-gun — and that would be Bill Clinton, and Obama who reaffirmed it in 2011."

Stockman believes his bill failed because lawmakers get nervous about tackling such a controversial issue.

"Its controversial votes like this [that] they get nervous. They get nervous on so many other things and they decided to take a walk rather than confront a serious issue,'' he said.

That unwillingness to tackle tough issues puts people in danger, he said.

"The criminal knows, or the insane person knows, 'hey, I can go on a base or a school and shoot somebody because I know they don't have guns,'" he said. "Now I'll tell you something … in Texas you can have a gun. So, he can protect himself until he gets on base, and it's just really a stupid law."
