Republicans are wrongly using Benghazi as a political tool against Democrats, according to Dean Obeidallah, a lawyer, comedian and liberal columnist for The Daily Beast.

"This new call for hearings, to me, is purely partisan," Obeidallah told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"I get disgusted frankly when I hear Republicans invoke the names of the four brave Americans killed on that night …

"Don’t bring up the four Americans or the fact we don’t know the facts of the attack because we do. There’s been two … bipartisan reports … I took the time to read them. They were painful to read at times, but everything is in there.''

Story continues below video.

Still, Obeidallah believes former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton must be willing to speak to the committee if called.

"Hillary Clinton will have to answer for Benghazi in 2016 when she runs for president, there’s no escaping that," he said.

"She will have to answer, make a case to the American public that she did the best she could knowing all the facts they knew, and the American people will vote yes or no."
