Tom DeLay: Crisis Proves Obama Is 'Open-Border President'

The recent crush of thousands of illegal immigrants into the United States is proof that Barack Obama is an "open-border president,'' former Republican House Majority Leader Tom DeLay says.

"He believes in sanctuary cities, sanctuary states. Open the borders let everybody come over,'' DeLay told "The Steve Malzberg Show" Tuesday on Newsmax TV.

"Let them come, let them come. The message got back to Central America … and now we have what we have.''

DeLay, who represented Texas's 22nd congressional district from 1984 to 2006, said the border problem and the IRS tea party-targeting scandal are signs that the nation is in a constitutional crisis.

"Whether you abuse power using the IRS or don't enforce laws in immigration or foreign policy, doing things without congressional approval … that's a constitutional crisis and the American people better wake up,'' he said.

"The president is gathering more and more power so that he can implement his philosophy and his world view. This is a Marxist president that believes all power belongs to the executive branch.

"I call him 'King Obama I.' This is a constitutional crisis and we better treat it that way."

DeLay said the explosion of illegal immigrants from Mexico and Central America has ruined the economy along the border.

"It's ruining families. The governments are so overtaxed…. It's having a devastating impact on the communities,'' he said.

"It's just amazing what is happening and then you take the health problems. We're hearing all kinds of horrible things … Just yesterday they picked up some dead bodies of children in the Rio Grande Valley.''

DeLay urged the House to act quickly.

"What they should do is pass a bill that is a solution to this problem and dump it in the Senate.

The Senate won't take it but the House should stand firm because if the House has the power of the purse, then the House can say no,'' he said.

"What they ought to do is authorize the president to move all the illegal people that are now in our immigration system to the border immediately.

"Then, set up tables and deal with deporting all of these people that are on our borders.''
