The GOP must fight "Republican rats'' who have little interest in helping the party and only end up hurting it, Steve Deace, a syndicated radio host and Washington Times contributor, warned Friday on Newsmax TV.
"The first of the 10 Commandments of political warfare [is] never, ever trust Republican rats,'' Deace told Westchester County Executive and New York gubernatorial candidate Rob Astorino, guest host of "The Steve Malzberg Show.''

Deace said Republican rats are different from RINOs, liberals who are Republicans in name only.
Republican rats "are people who are really, who pretend to be Republicans using our talking points to get elected all over the country,'' he said.
"But then they stab us in the back time and time again.''
One example, he said, is the incendiary GOP primary campaign waged by veteran Sen. Thad Cochran, who some say used race and scare tactics to beat tea party challenger Chris McDaniel in Mississippi.
In that runoff, Republican figures who supported Cochran reportedly urged Democrats and African Americans to help defeat McDaniel at the polls. It's a bad precedent, according to Deace.
"You can’t win with just your base, but you can't win without your base either,'' he said.
"So consistently betraying your base and essentially expecting them to just be there for you no matter what you do to them — whatever heinous offense you commit against them — that is a certain way to subtract your party, and you're watching the Republican Party establishment do that now."
