In one of those switches that politics sometimes produces, liberal analyst Justin Duckham on Friday called House Speaker John Boehner's promise to sue President Barack Obama an astute move, while conservative commentator Erica Holloway dismissed it as a distraction.

Duckham and Holloway joined Newsmax TV's Ed Berliner on "MidPoint" to discuss immigration anxieties, Obama's foreign policy, and Boehner's pending lawsuit against a president the speaker accuses of end-running Congress and overstepping his executive authority.

"It's political theater, but it's political theater for a pretty good cause for Speaker Boehner if he wants to get anything done" with his caucus, said Duckham.

Holloway countered that litigation "makes the Republicans look foolish, and makes them retreat from the things that they say [they] don't agree with.

"Things like tort reform have less of a bite if you're taking the president to court," said Holloway.
