The only way to deal with the Islamic State (ISIS), the jihadist group behind the insurgency in Iraq, is to destroy the group, says former Central Intelligence Agency Officer Fred Rustmann.
"We need to kill them," Rustmann told J.D. Hayworth on "America's Forum" on Newsmax TV
Thursday. "We can't negotiate with these people, these are terrorists."

"These people have to be alienated, and we can do it and we should do it," he explained.
"This administration doesn’t have a policy so therefore it doesn’t have a strategy, but its policy ought to be to inflict as much damage as fast as we can on ISIS before they come over here," the former CIA officer said.
"Let’s fight them over there," he added. "Let's not have to fight them when they come over here."
The administration has been criticized for releasing information about the failed raid
on ISIS in an attempt to rescue American journalist James Foley.
"In the days before the raid, the covert raid which was indeed a covert raid, which means it was secret and it should never have been released, but in the days before that there were six prisoners who had been released by ISIS and those six prisoners then came back and were debriefed and that intelligence led to the raid," the former CIA officer explained.
"So I will venture to guess that this is the last time we’re going to see anyone released from ISIS," he added. "There will be beheadings, but there won’t be anybody released anymore."
Rustmann contends that there is no reason for President Barack Obama to release information about raids, other than to earn political points.
"It was shocking, but the president released the news about the take down of Osama bin Laden just hours after he was killed, which denied the intelligence community reams of actionable intelligence and he’s done it again," he explained.
"The thing about these covert actions is they are covert, the sources and methods are covert they are not to be released and the only reason I can see that this is released is for the administration to say, 'see we’re trying it’s just another political stunt.
He explained that one of the reason's for the success of ISIS is that its leader, Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi, "is like a magnet moving through Syria."
"He’s got three things," Rustmann said. "One, he’s got charisma, he’s a good leader he’s a strong leader which is what you need in that part of the world. Number two, he’s got money, he can pay these guys so he’s got the carrot. And three, he’s got the stick. 'You don’t stick with me I’ll behead you.'"
