The immigration crisis will unlikely be a major issue in the midterm elections, and accordingly, Republicans are not too worried about passing legislation to address it, according to Susan Ferrechio, chief congressional correspondent for The Washington Examiner.

"There's an interesting Associated Press poll out that shows a third of Americans are paying attention to this immigration border crisis,'' Ferrechio said Friday on "The Steve Malzberg Show'' on Newsmax TV.

"In other words, I'm not sure Republicans are fearful that this is going to hurt them in these upcoming elections. People aren't paying attention to it right now.

"They are more concerned with their own pressing issue like the economy and even on foreign policy with what's happening in the Middle East.''

With the immigration border crisis not resonating with the public, the Republicans get a pass on worrying about getting a bill to the president's desk, she said.
