the American ISIS fighter killed in Syria, is one of hundreds of Americans who have traveled to the Middle East to fight with the terror group, Rep. Ted Poe, a Texas Republican said Wednesday on "America’s Forum" on Newsmax TV.
McCain – who Poe said should change his name to Benedict Arnold – and others like him are "wrapped up in this jihadist hate campaign."

"There are several that have joined these forces. We have to be mindful of that because when they have a passport then they will try to come back into the United States," Poe said. "They have to be very careful about these individuals and certainly keep up with them, where they're going. When they try to come back into the United States they need to be held accountable when they return to the U.S."
It’s troubling that the State Department released news of McCain under a "travel advisory," downplaying the seriousness of the situation, Poe said.
State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki is likely "doing damage control and she's giving basic information that we're all aware of anyway," Poe said. "We have Americans who have left the United States, with an American passport that have gone to fight for this barbarian, terrorist group that is very disturbing."
He’s also troubled that the administration is talking strategy with countries in the region before President Barack Obama has consulted with Congress.
"The administration needs to be talking to Congress, and Congress needs to weigh in on what the role of the U.S. should be on this terrorist group before we get too far down the road with the president's ability or his claim that he can just do what he wants to," Poe cautioned.
"Congress should be involved in this. We should be talking to stable governments in the region, but at the end of the day, the United States is going to have to look out for the national security interest of the United States, not so much the national security interest of other nations. That is our goal and purpose for taking on ISIS."
Americans should be prepared for some type of terrorist attack on the anniversary of 9/11, Poe warned.
"Historically, they celebrate 9/11 by trying to do some terrorist act again," he said. "That's their anniversary for their attack on the United States, as we all know. It would not surprise me that there would be some type of jihadist aggression against the United States on 9/11, that's their date. It's a day that they like to celebrate, killing Americans and other people who don't agree with them."
The congressman also briefly addressed the illegal immigration crisis, saying he hopes Obama will consult Congress before taking any executive action, but that he won’t bank on it.
"The president will issue some type of executive order regarding immigration and the people that are here illegally already," Poe predicted. "I expect that to happen before Congress gets back into session. I certainly do. I hope it doesn't, but he will do something like that."
