Nobody believes the Internal Revenue Service's excuses when it comes to former agency official Lois Lerner and the story of her computer's lost hard drive and servers, said Texas Republican Rep. Kevin Brady.
"This is an ongoing congressional investigation, and I don't know about you, but no one I know believes the IRS' claim that the dog ate their homework," Brady told "America's Forum" host J.D. Hayworth on Newsmax TV
"That out of tens of thousands of computers, the only ones whose hard drive and server is irretrievably lost is key person of interest, Lois Lerner, and six of the [other] key persons of interest," Brady said.

Brady, a member of the House Ways and Means Committee and chairman of the Joint Economic Committee, said Ways and Means will begin examining "all of the IT people" at the IRS and going after the lost emails.
"We've begun re-engineering those emails by sending letters, requesting emails from the Justice Department, SEC, from all the FBI, [and] all these other groups that we believe the IRS actually provided taxpayer information to, to target tea parties and other Americans as well," Brady told Hayworth. "So we've got a lot more work to do."
Brady also noted Wednesday's news that Lerner tried to target Iowa Republican Sen. Charles Grassley
for a possible audit. Lerner suggested the audit after a mix-up in speaking fees revealed a group planned to pay expenses for his wife, a lobbyist, as well as for him to make a public appearance
"Not only were they targeting conservatives, they're willing to target sitting U.S. senators," said Brady. "What would stop them from targeting you or me or any of your viewers simply because you disagree with the way this government's being run?"
Brady said there is still a great deal of information to be processed.
"The White House and the IRS have stonewalled this," said Brady. "We really had to be aggressive. It's been a full year in the investigation. The emails that revealed Sen. Grassley's targeting came about because we continue to slough through the volumes and the thousands of emails. So we have more work to do there, but we still have not received all of Lois Lerner's emails."
But, said Brady, IRS Commissioner John Koskinen promised all of Lerner' emails without limitation "when he knew at the time he was lying about it, that he was told at least that there were significant problems with emails ... they'd already talked to the Treasury Department, who urged him to communicate this to the congressional investigation, and he didn't, so we've still got a lot of work to do."
