Jerusalem Post's Glick: Kerry Forcing Himself on Mideast Conflict

Tuesday, 22 Jul 2014 05:08 PM

Secretary of State John Kerry's off-camera remark that Israel's military strike in Gaza was "a hell of a pinpoint operation'' proves he has no place in the Middle East conflict, according to Caroline Glick, senior contributing editor of The Jerusalem Post.

"It made very clear that nobody was inviting him to come,'' Glick said Tuesday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"At least Israel and Egypt have not been inviting him to come and try to save the day for humanity, and he was expressing irritation to the fact that nobody wanted him to be there.

"What we saw in that conversation was him deciding that he was going to force himself on the parties or on America's allies and try to coerce them into accepting something that they don't want.''

Kerry's remark, recorded off-camera during his appearance on "Fox News Sunday,'' has been widely interpreted as a swipe at Israel." Glick noted that Kerry — and the Obama administration — are not trusted.

"The fact that Israel and Egypt didn't want him to come … is an extraordinary, unprecedented level of distrust in the Obama administration by America's key allies, Israel and Egypt, in the Middle East,'' she said.

"The other thing that we notice is his incredible contempt for Israel and the way that he was describing Israel's strikes against Hamas, which is just a barbaric terrorist organization.

"He seems to be exhibiting extraordinary contempt, which again is just par for the course with this secretary of state who has maligned Israel almost on a daily basis since taking office and even engaging in what would reasonably be considered anti-Semitic rhetoric repeatedly in his characterization of the Israeli people.''
