Democratic National Chairman Debbie Wasserman Schultz refused to commit to an answer when pressed on whether the party removed the word “God” from its platform, according to the Washington Examiner.

The Florida congresswoman was asked by CNN’s Piers Morgan if the removal of the word “God” was a “mistake.”

“Well, we have a commitment through all faith traditions that our values are reflected in our policy and that means we should look out for the least of these, that we should fight for the middle class . . .,” she told Morgan.
Wasserman Schulz refused to admit that it was a mistake, and said instead that “our values are reflected in our policies.”

“The thing is, somebody has deliberately taken out the word God because it was in the last one,” Morgan said.

“I can assure that that no one has deliberately taken God out of our platform.” Wasserman Schultz said, according to the Examiner.
“So it was an accident.” Morgan said.

Wasserman Schultz refused to answer.

In 2008, the Democratic platform read, “We need a government that stands up for the hopes, values, and interests of working people, and gives everyone willing to work hard the chance to make the most of their God-given potential.”

For 2012, the words “God-given” are removed: “We gather to reclaim the basic bargain that built the largest middle class and the most prosperous nation on Earth – the simple principle that in America, hard work should pay off, responsibility should be rewarded, and each one of us should be able to go as far as our talent and drive take us.”
