Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum blasted liberal comedian Bill Maher Monday night for joking that Santorum homeschools his children in a “Christian madrasa." A madrasa is an Islamic school.

Maher said the former Pennsylvania senator wants his children “locked up in the Christian madrasa that is the family living room, not out in public where they could be infected by the virus of reason.”

In response, Santorum offered some choice comments on Maher and reason. “Our children will out-reason him,” he said on Fox News, The Hill reports. “My 12 year-old will out-reason Bill Maher when it comes to understanding how logic works, because he [Maher] is completely illogical. They’ve abandoned not just faith in Bill Maher, but they’ve abandoned reason too."

Asked if President Barack Obama is being a hypocrite by calling for civility in the presidential campaign but allowing the super PAC supporting him to accept $1 million from Maher, Santorum said, "It's an absolute double-standard.”

While conservative talk radio star Rush Limbaugh received intense criticism for his remarks last week, “repeatedly, these folks on the Left — whether it's Maher or Letterman or you name it — they're out there trashing anybody who stands up for Christian conservative values, anybody who dares to actually teach their children faith in their home,” Santorum said.
