Fox News Channel has re-signed contributor Karl Rove through the 2016 presidential election, Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes announced Thursday.

“Karl’s detailed knowledge of state and national politics, as well as fundraising and strategy, makes him an important player in our ongoing political coverage and we look forward to him continuing his analysis across all platforms for Fox News and Fox Business," Ailes said.

Rove made news on election night in November when he took issue with the network for calling Ohio for President Barack Obama over former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney when he felt it was too early.

Rove joined Fox as a contributor in February of 2008, providing political analysis and key insights on the election seasons that followed, Fox News said in its announcement.

Rove served as deputy chief of staff and senior adviser during former President George W. Bush’s administration before he resigned in 2007. Rove also headed the Office of Political Affairs, the Office of Public Liaison, and the White House Office of Strategic Initiatives.

Before his tenure at the White House, he was the chief strategist for Bush’s 2000 Presidential campaign, as well as his re-election in 2004.

The re-signing of Rove comes on the heels of an announcement by Fox News earlier this week that it had signed former presidential candidate and one of the most liberal former members of Congress Dennis Kucinich to a multi-year deal with the network as a contributor.

"I've always been impressed with Rep. Kucinich's fearlessness and thoughtfulness about important issues," Ailes said. "His willingness to take a stand from his point of view makes him a valuable voice in our country's debate."
