Chief Justice John Roberts will face his lesbian cousin in court Tuesday for the Supreme Court hearing which could decide the future of gay marriage.

Californian Jean Podrasky, 48, hopes to marry her partner of four years and plans to be in the court when her cousin presides over the landmark hearing, The Los Angeles Times reported.

Podrasky will be seated in the area reserved for family members and guests of the Chief Justice. She reportedly said, “I am so excited. I feel quite honored and overwhelmed.”

She described her cousin as “a smart man,” adding, “He is a good man. I believe he sees where the tide is going. I do trust him. I absolutely trust that he will go in a good direction.”

She said she hopes to introduce Roberts to her partner Grace Fasano during her trip to Washington.

But she said she did not know whether having a gay family member would influence the Chief Justice’s thinking. “Everybody knows somebody” who is gay, she said. “It probably impacts everybody.”
