At least four new female members of Congress who missed a group photo shoot on Thursday were later photoshopped in at the urging of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi's office, according to the Atlantic Wire.

Pelosi is defending the altered photograph of the new Democratic female Congressional members.

Pelosi told a news conference Friday the picture was an accurate historical record of the female lawmakers from her party. She also said it was freezing outside, and that the members were entertaining guests on the day they were sworn in for the 113th Congress, according to The New York Times.

As latecomers Gwen Moore of Wisconsin, Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut, and longtime member Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida, among others, sought to join the group late, the photographer said they would take extra pictures and “Photoshop” those members in later.

"[They] emerged from the House moments too late, just as the group was dispersing," reporter Ashley Parker of the New York Times wrote. "However, all was not lost; the photographer took some shots of the late arrivals, and the caucus plans to Photoshop them in."

There are 61 Democratic congresswomen including Pelosi.
