Republican Paul Ryan is calling for an end to America's "spending spree" while promising to reclaim a system of "limited government, low taxes and reasonable regulations" in his response to President Obama's State of the Union Address.

You can see his reponse here live at the conclusion of the president's speech.

Story continues below.

Ryan, of Wisconsin, said a budget to be proposed by House Republicans will “show you how we intend to do things differently” and cut spending to reduce the federal deficit. His office released excerpts from the official rebuttal he is to deliver after Obama’s speech.

Ryan acknowledged that voters don’t trust either party, particularly on spending, and asked the public to “hold all of us accountable.” He plans to deliver the response from the Budget Committee hearing room on Capitol Hill in what Republican leaders have said is a reflection of their focus on fiscal responsibility.

Later, Republican Representative Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, who founded Congress’s Tea Party Caucus last year, plans to give her own rebuttal, to be carried on the Internet by the Tea Party Express.

In excerpts released in advance by her office, Bachmann faulted Obama for his policies and spoke to voters who help cost Democrats control of the House and seats in the Senate. “We saw an unprecedented explosion of government spending and debt at President Obama’s direction, unlike anything we have seen in the history of our country,” Bachmann said in her prepared remarks.

“Thanks to all of you, there’s reason to hope that real spending cuts are coming,” her prepared text said.
