ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE  - President Barack Obama spoke with congressional Super Committee members Friday to encourage them to strike a deal to cut the U.S. deficit, the White House said.

White House press secretary Jay Carney told reporters traveling with Obama that the president urged the committee find a balanced approach, but stressed he would not allow any measures to water down enforcement mechanisms. (Reporting by Laura MacInnis; editing by Sandra Maler)
