After calling for a ‘million-man march’ today against the United States in response to an anti-Mohammed video, Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood suddenly reversed itself and called it off, reflecting its realization that it was fanning the flames of violent protests over which it has little control. It is also likely a response to President Barack Obama’s comment that Egypt is neither an ally nor an enemy – a gaffe, for sure, as Egypt has been an ally of the United States since 1989 – but one that appears to have gotten the Brotherhood’s attention.
