Mike Huckabee: 'Is There an Adult in Charge' at MSNBC?

By Wanda Carruthers   |

Mike Huckabee wonders if there is  "an adult in charge" at MSNBC after a network employee posted a controversial tweet aimed at the "rightwing" about a cereal ad that featured a biracial family.

"Is there an adult in charge over there? Is there anybody there who is not filled with this playground arrogance, this sense of  'We're right. Everyone else is wrong. And we're right 100 percent of the time. And they're wrong 100 percent of the time?'" the former Republican presidential candidate and onetime Arkansas governor asked on "Fox & Friends" Friday.

The MSNBC tweet read, "Maybe the rightwing will hate it but everyone else will go awww," about a Cheerios ad depicting a family with a black father and a white mother. Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus immediately called for a boycott of MSNBC, and the network quickly backed down and apologized.

Huckabee said he was "proud of Reince Priebus," and took issue with the network for the message of intolerance the Tweet conveyed.

"That's something that I find just really contemptible, in a society where we're supposed to be able to have adult-level conversations, and even be able to disagree, without being disagreeable," he said.

A poll by Public Policy Polling showed Huckabee leading other potential Republican contenders in the 2016 race for president, including former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul.

Huckabee explained it was still "very early" to be talking about the next presidential election, and said he didn't think the poll "means a lot." He said his focus was on the 2014 midterm elections and working to see Republicans win a majority in the Senate.
