"Megyn Kelly Presents," the first prime time network special hosted by the Fox News Channel host, landed a distant third in the ratings Tuesday night despite heavy promotion and a much-touted sitdown with Donald Trump, who has blasted Kelly publicly for months.
The program, aired on Fox broadcast stations, drew 4.8 million viewers, according to Nielsen ratings, with a 0.8 rating for the 18-49 demographic.
The number is more than double Kelly's 2.3 million average viewers on her Fox News Channel program "The Kelly File," and also double the Fox broadcast's viewership in the same hour last week when it aired "New Girl" and "Grandfathered," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
But Kelly's show lost out to CBS's "NCIS" season finale, which pulled in a whopping 17.6 million viewers and a 2.5 rating in the key demographic. NBC's "The Voice" came in second for the time slot at 8.9 million viewers and a 1.8 key demo rating.
The Hollywood Reporter noted that the exchange between Trump and Kelly was far friendlier than many of his past exchanges with her, which likely hurt the tune-in factor.
the show "failed to deliver anything resembling a revealing interview with Trump."
