Conservative groups that say they were targeted for extra examination from the Internal Revenue Service will get to tell their side of the story in testimony to the House Ways and Means Committee Tuesday.

This will be the groups' first participation in the Ways and Means Committee's hearings on the topic, which began May 17, The Hill reports.

The committee is looking for all the who, what, where, when, and whys involved in the scandal, says its chairman Michigan Republican Dave Camp.

"While we now know that the IRS began targeting individuals based on their personal beliefs three years ago, we still need to know who began this targeting and why, and we need to understand how individuals were affected by the IRS's abuse," he said in a statement.

"This hearing will provide a voice to those Americans who wound up under the IRS's political microscope on the basis of their beliefs."

Congressional staffers continue to investigate the scandal while congressmen are on holiday this week. The staffers want more documents from the IRS and to query more of its staffers, according to The Hill.
