Iran's missile strike at ISIS Sunday in retaliation for the attacks in Tehran was a flop, the Times of Israel reports.

Most of the missiles missed their mark, and only one landed on its intended target despite claims by Iran's military that it struck an Islamic State command center and suicide car bomb operation.

Iran was aiming at terrorists in the ISIS-held Syrian town of Deir ez-Zor after the terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attacks on the Iranian parliament and at the shrine of Ayatollah Khomeini that killed 18 people, mostly civilians.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards said in a statement that it fired missiles from a base in western Iran hitting the headquarters of "Takfiri terrorists" in eastern Syria.

But according to the Times of Israel, three of the missiles didn't even make it as far as Syria. Only one of the seven missiles landed in Deir ez-Zor while another landed 700 yards away in the city of Mayadin.

"If the Iranians were trying to show their capabilities and to signal to Israel and to the Americans that these missiles are operational, the result was rather different," Channel 2 analyst Ehud Yaari said according to the Times. It was "a flop," said Ya'ari. "A failure." Still, "it photographed well."
