First results in the Iowa caucuses came in Indianola, the seat of Warren
County and it was good news for Ron Paul.

The official results from the town showed the Texas congressman had 40 votes, CNN reported, with Rick Santorum in second with 27 and Mitt Romney third with 25.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry led the second tier of candidates in Indianola with 14 votes, followed by Michele Bachmann with 9 and Newt Gingrich with 7.

Former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, who has not campaigned in Iowa, did not receive any votes.
