ABC: Mueller Has 'Not Yet' Decided to Investigate Trump

ABC's "This Week"

Special counsel Robert Mueller has not yet decided whether to investigate President Donald Trump as part of a wide-ranging Russia probe, according to ABC News.

In a report on the outlet's Sunday show, "This Week," ABC News senior justice correspondent Pierre Thomas said his choice will be "momentous."

"Now my sources are telling me he's begun some preliminary planning," Thomas said. "Plans to talk to some people in the administration. But he's not yet made that momentous decision to go for a full-scale investigation."

Last week, The Washington Post reported Mueller is investigating the president for obstruction of justice in light of his firing of former FBI Director James Comey – and Trump appeared to affirm the report in a tweet Friday.

However, also Sunday, Trump's personal lawyer, Jay Sekulow said there was no investigation of Trump and the president's tweet was only referring to the Post story.

"Now Mueller faces a huge decision," Thomas told "This Week" host Martha Raddatz. "Does he believe the president, who says there's no wrongdoing here, or does he go after the president in the way [fired FBI Director] James Comey wants him to do?"
