Former Fox News host Greta Van Susteren says she regrets that Roger Ailes was not "supervised" while he ran Fox News.

"I regret that Roger Ailes was not supervised by those in a public corporation who had the duty to supervise him," she said in a statement posted to Facebook.

Van Susteren, who resigned from the network earlier this week, also restated her regret that she did not believe the allegations made by Gretchen Carlson, her former colleague.

"When I read the complaint written by lawyers — I never spoke to Gretchen as she was long gone from Fox — I found it inconsistent with what was my experience and information at the Fox News Channel, admittedly working 200 miles from the ‘scene of the crimes.' It was hidden from all of us."

Fox News regular Geraldo Rivera released a similar statement this week, calling Ailes "a deceitful, selfish misogynist, if the charges against him are true."

He "was totally blindsided by his sexual harassment scandal" and also disbelieved Carlson when she filed her lawsuit.

"I am filled with regret for stubbornly discounting their various allegations," Rivera wrote. "Moreover, I apologize for my skepticism. Like victims of sexual assault, those alleging harassment deserve the presumption of credibility."

Earlier this week Fox New's parent company, 21st Century Fox, settled with Carlson and two other women, The New York Times reports. Carlson received $20 million and a public apology.

Ailes has made no public comments since he left Fox News on July 21.
