Republicans are plenty angry over the disastrous rollout of the Obamacare website, but more and more Democrats are now turning up the heat on the administration as well.
"Somebody ought to get fired," Sen. Bill Nelson declared Wednesday in an interview with a local ABC affiliate in his home state of Florida, calling the problems with the Healthcare.gov website "inexcusable.
The Democrat was just the latest of an increasing number of lawmakers from both sides of the aisle to call for administration officials connected with the implementation of Obamacare to be fired.
Republicans are specifically demanding the resignation of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. But The Washington Post reported
that Nelson stopped short of naming names, saying, "They should wait and get the [website] up and running . . . and then determine, and let somebody be accountable."
"That's the problem with the government today; people are not being held accountable," he added.
Another Democrat, Rep. Xavier Becerra of California, who heads the House Democratic Caucus, agreed with Nelson.
“I absolutely believe that somebody should be held accountable,” he told The Miami Herald
Meanwhile, Louisiana GOP Rep. John Flemming, who last week called for Sebelius to resign
, revealed that he sent a letter to the White House Wednesday with the signatures of nearly three dozen lawmakers calling on President Barack Obama to fire her.
"Secretary Sebelius was one of the biggest cheerleaders for this law going forward," he told Fox News' Megan Kelly
. "And all along, she was reassuring us how, what a great experience this is going to be for customers. How easy it was going to be when, in fact, we find out that it's been an absolute disaster."
