CNN has aired the Social Security number and telephone number for George Zimmerman, who is on trial for the murder of African American teenager Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Fla., last February.

CNN broadcast a photocopy of a document that included Zimmerman's address, date of birth, Social Security number, and phone number. The image appeared above a chyron that read, "Detective: Zimmerman Seemed Sober." The document aired on screen as it was presented in court to the jury.

CNN communications SVP Allison Gollust later said, "Routinely the evidence is first given to the Court Clerk for redaction, and that didn’t happen in this instance. The Court is circling back to attorneys on both sides to make sure they give the Clerk's office the opportunity to redact the necessary information."

Hundreds of Twitter users have tweeted their reactions. "Hahahaa! Now the whole world has #Zimmerman’s social security number!!! Lmbooo!! Now HE can be victimized!!!! #JusticeForTrayvon,” one user wrote.

“Sleazy irresponsible CNN shows Zimmerman’s DL# and social security# on live TV…the thugs jump at it & pass it #SICK,” said another.
