Religious and political organizations have banded together to "pierce" America's immigration system for "religious, political and ideological" agendas, according to Minuteman Project President Jim Gilchrist.

Gilchrist told John Bachman of "America's Forum" on Newsmax TV Friday that the tens of thousands of unaccompanied minors pouring into the southwest border are being used as "human shields" in "ideological warfare" taking place between the United States and the governments of foreign countries.

"It's a politically-inspired invasion sponsored primarily by the Democratic Party and encouraged primarily by the Democratic Party and the purpose is to build a very heavy perspective voting bloc," Gilchrist said.

"When amnesty comes down for these 33 million illegal aliens currently occupying U.S. territory, my immigration law council tells me five years after amnesty is granted they receive citizenship, which is accompanied by voting rights, [and] more likely than not all of those 33 million and plus will vote for the Democratic party.

"Every political appointee will be from the Democratic Party. All of those bureaucrats appointed will hire from the Democratic Party. Do you see where this is going? It's going that way by the blatant disregard and reckless disregard of our rule of law and our immigration laws."

Minuteman Project is gathering thousands of non-militia volunteers to protest at the border, with the goal of bringing "national awareness to issues we feel are threatening our domestic tranquility. Our goal is not to engage in any kind of combat."

"It's to simply use the tool of choice, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, to bring forth our position into the public square so the public can be better informed and better able to debate this issue," he said. "Either we are going to collapse the borders or we are going to enforce them."
