New York City’s top priority is dealing with the effects of the superstorm so Mayor Michael Bloomberg turned down an offer from President Barack Obama to visit the city, Politico
Bloomberg and the president agreed that the timing just wasn’t right for a visit and Obama instead will visit New Jersey on Wednesday.
"What I pointed out to him is that we'd love to have him, but we've got lots of things to do," Bloomberg said at a press conference, according to Politico.
Bloomberg insisted it wasn’t a snub.
"I'm not trying diss him, but I know he had planned a trip to New Jersey and I said that's fine, it represents the whole region, people understand the storm," Bloomberg said. "He's got a lot of things to do and I was flattered that he offered to come, but I think the thing for him to do is to go to New Jersey and represent the country."
