If there’s an action film based on the Navy SEAL raid that killed Osama bin Laden, it apparently won’t be produced by Steven Spielberg.

The New York Post had reported that Spielberg and his Dream Works production company were in discussions with Matt Bissonnette, the retired Navy SEAL identified as the author of "No Easy Day."

The book is scheduled to be published on Sept. 11.

Spielberg spokesman Marvin Levy, however, said, “Neither Steven Spielberg, DreamWorks Studios or DreamWorks Television will be optioning Mark Owen's book, No Easy Day,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.

“No Easy Day,” which Bissonnette wrote under the name Mark Owen, is being reviewed by Pentagon officials for leaks of classified information. Officials have said that he could be prosecuted for revealing sensitive and classified information that could cause American forces harm.

At least two other films are planned on bin Laden.

“Hurt Locker” director Kathryn Bigelow is working on “Zero Dark Thirty,” about the decade-long hunt for the terrorist leader, leading to his death in May 2011. The cast includes Scott Adkins, Joel Edgerton, Jessica Chastain and Taylor Kinney, with release set for Dec. 19.

And the Weinstein Company has secured the U.S. rights to “Code Name Geronimo,” a drama being directed by actor John Stockwell.

According to the Post, Weinstein will put the film in theaters in early fall, ahead of “Zero Dark Thirty” — which was delayed after Sony decided not to release it ahead of the Nov. 6 presidential election.
