Vice President Joe Biden will meet with the National Rifle Association as part of his task force on guns to get their input on the proposals he will eventually offer President Barack Obama regarding gun control.
Over the course of the next several days, Biden also will meet with shooting victims groups, sportsmen, and representatives of the entertainment and video game industries, reported The Hill
"We are sending a rep to hear what they have to say," said Andrew Arulanandam, a spokesman for the NRA, adding that the organization accepted the invitation when asked on Jan. 4.
The NRA has publicly opposed new gun regulations, though Biden’s task force is expected to offer several, including universal background checks for gun buyers and a national database to track the movement and sale of weapons.
In addition to guns themselves, the task force is considering the inspiration for gun violence, as well as violence overall, and is expected to discuss the portrayal of both in games and movies.
