It is now under the leadership of Ayman al-Zawahiri and is considered a more dangerous terrorist organization than it was before 9/11, responsible for four times as many terrorist attacks and intent on creating an Islamic caliphate that will rule over the entire Middle East, North Africa, and parts of south Asia.
