General Motors Chairman Daniel Akerson gave Newsmax correspondent Kathleen Walter a “test drive” in a hybrid electric Chevy Volt.

During the drive near Newsmax’s headquarters in Palm Beach County, Fla., Akerson explained how the Volt’s 400-pound battery powers the electric motor and is automatically charged by the car’s gasoline engine.

“This is not a golf cart,” Akerson declared as the car accelerated. “This is a car with a hell of an engine behind it.”
