Most White House employees make more than the $51,000 national median household income and got raises last year, as well, according to its 2014 salary list
Federal government records show that 456 people work at the White House, down four from 2013, The Washington Post reported
. President Barack Obama has the top salary at $400,000. The maximum salary for staffers is $172,000 annually, according to the newspaper.
Out of the 456 workers, 322 earn more than the average American. In all, the White House gave out $1.3 million
in raises in the past year. However, the combined payroll for the White House dropped by about $83,000 from last year, as four fewer workers reported for duty.
The total payroll is just over $37.78 million. Overall, between 2013 and 2014, the White House added 161 employees, but lost even more than that, the Post said. The new employees earn a combined $12.7 million a year, or about $79,000 each annually.
Scheduler Chase Cushman got the biggest pay raise, seeing his salary surge from $68,000 a year to $130,000.

, the average man working at the White House earns $88,600, while the average woman earns $78,400, a 13 percent gap.
