A pair of high-profile magazines have canceled their annual party that is customarily held the night before the White House Correspondents' Dinner.

According to Politico, Time and People will not host the glitzy gathering in Washington, D.C. around the April 29 event that has gained more attention this year because of President Donald Trump's decision not to attend.

Trump and his administration criticize the media on a regular basis, and it is unclear whether anyone from the White House or the president's Cabinet will be at the dinner to be held at the Washington Hilton.

Politico noted Time will have representatives at the dinner, but People has decided to make a donation to the White House Correspondents' Association instead of purchasing seats.

Last month, it was reported Vanity Fair and The New Yorker canceled their parties.

The White House Correspondents' Association acknowledged Trump's decision to skip the event, which it called "a celebration of the First Amendment and the important role played by an independent news media in a healthy republic."
