More than a dozen Marines were injured after the amphibious landing vehicle they were in burst into flames at California's Camp Pendleton on Wednesday.

According to NBC San Diego, 1st Marine Division public affairs officer 1st Lt. Paul Gainey said the incident occurred during a training exercise and that 15 Marines were injured.

The vehicle reportedly was involved in an accident and then caught fire. Everyone inside was able to get out but at least three of the Marines are being treated for burns and smoke inhalation, Business Insider reported.

"All Marines are currently being treated for injuries," Gainey said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the Marines and their families as they receive medical care. Officials are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident at this time."

Business Insider reported that the accident involved members of the Charlie Co., 1st Battalion, 1st Marines.
