Luis Rosales, co-author of "Francis: A Pope for Our Time, The Definitive Biography," with Pope Francis.
The co-author of a best-selling new book about Pope Francis recently met with the pontiff at the Vatican and took the opportunity to present a copy of his work to the Pope himself.

"Francis: A Pope for Our Time, The Definitive Biography"
was written by Newsmax insider Luis Rosales and fellow journalist Daniel Olivera. Rosales is a noted news and political commentator from Argentina who has known the Pope for decades.

It is the first major biography written by journalists from Argentina who have tracked Jorge Bergoglio's public life for decades.

Rosales was at the Vatican to attend meetings of Scholas Occurrentes, a global educational network inspired and created by the Pope. While archbishop of Buenos Aires, Pope Francis commissioned two school directors working on a similar program to find ways to expand it worldwide.

The meetings were held at the Casina Pio IV, the headquarters of the Pontifical Academy of Science in the middle of the Vatican Gardens in Rome.

At the conclusion of the meetings, Pope Francis received the gathering at his Santa Marta Residence next to St. Peter's Basilica.

When the Pope greeted Rosales, the author handed him a copy of "Francis: A Pope for Our Time."

"In a sample of his extremely good mood, when I gave him the book he asked me, 'Again?' because I had already given him a copy in December," Rosales told Newsmax.

"I answered that I was insisting on doing that just to be sure that he was going to read it. We laughed together about that."

The Pope indicated he was also excited about an upcoming Spanish edition of the book.
Rosales' book incisively chronicles Pope Francis' ancestry, youth, call to faith, humble beginnings with the Society of Jesus, and rise through Argentina's ecclesiastical ranks, all the way to the Vatican. It emphasizes the Pope's Jesuit background of humility, poverty, and service that stands to reform the Vatican's long history of lavish excess.

"Francis: A Pope for Our Time" also illustrates Pope Francis' pastoral commitment to society's most underprivileged and disenfranchised people.
