Who Really Killed JFK? Newsmax Looks Into the Story

Tuesday, 19 Nov 2013 06:55 PM

By Jim Meyers

Fifty years after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, his murder continues to mystify and intrigue.

Now Newsmax TV presents a new video documentary, "The Assassination of JFK: Case Closed?" which takes an extraordinary look at some of the conspiracy theories surrounding the assassination and introduces viewers to the researchers who have been dedicated to finding the truth.

We also talk with experts who back up the Warren Commission’s report that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone.

The compelling documentary debuts on Wednesday, a half-century after the Nov. 22, 1963 assassination of America's 35th president.

Story continues below the video.

Among the voices heard is Oliver Stone, director of the controversial 1991 film "JFK," who believes the Warren Commission that investigated the killing got it wrong in finding that the assassination was the work of a lone gunman, Lee Harvey Oswald.

Stone contends that elements of the military-industrial complex, backed by the CIA, conspired to get JFK out of the way before he could implement policies they opposed.

Legendary political consultant Roger Stone, author of the new bestselling book "The Man Who Killed Kennedy: The Case Against LBJ," argues that there is "overwhelming evidence" Vice President Lyndon Johnson masterminded the assassination.

Stone, once a top aide to Richard Nixon, cites the former president as telling him that LBJ was the mastermind behind the death. In his book, Stone claims at the time JFK arrived in Dallas, Johnson was under several congressional and press investigations that could easily have led to his imprisonment.

Top forensic pathologist Cyril Wecht calls the Warren Commission's findings "absurd," noting that the "single bullet theory" supported by the commission is inconsistent with Kennedy's head wounds. He calls the killing a "CIA-orchestrated coup d'etat."

Crime scene investigator Sherry Feister, author of the book "Enemy of the Truth: Myths, Forensics, and the Kennedy Assassination," insists that the president was shot from the front, not from behind as the commission maintained.

But Dr. Gerald Posner, author of the best-selling book "Case Closed: Lee Harvey Oswald and the Assassination of JFK," rebuts conspiracy theories and asserts that Oswald was the lone gunman.

Bryan Bender, national security reporter for the Boston Globe, and presidential historian Dr. Robert Watson of Lynn University also offer their views on the assassination and its aftermath.

The Newsmax documentary comes as a clear majority of Americans now suspect there was a conspiracy behind JFK's murder.

Even Secretary of State John Kerry recently said he believed that Oswald did not act alone and suggested ties between Oswald and the Russians and Cuba.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. recently disclosed that the Kennedy family does not believe the lone gunman finding.

More than 40 minutes of documentary footage explores the possibility that Kennedy was the victim of the CIA, the Mafia, Cuban leader Fidel Castro, Lyndon Johnson, or Russia's KGB — or a combination of several of those suspects.

The truth remains elusive, as thousands of pages of documents remain classified by the U.S. government.

Did America get the truth from the Warren Commission, whose conclusions have been called a "house of cards"?

"The Assassination of JFK: Case Closed?" takes a fresh look at one of the most significant events in American history, and is must-see viewing for Newsmax readers.

It begins airing on Newsmax.com on Wednesday at 9 a.m. and airs again at 6 p.m.
