The Trump administration has embraced technology developed and pioneered under the past two presidents when it comes to catching illegal aliens in the United States.

The Atlantic highlights several programs and tools immigration authorities have at their disposal and are now using under President Donald Trump. High-tech fingerprint scanners, cell-site simulators used to pinpoint the location of cell phones, and even drones that scan the faces of people walking below are all being used.

Many of the tools were developed in post-9/11 America under former President George W. Bush. Authorities during the presidency of Barack Obama used several tools and instituted a program that allowed the Department of Homeland Security to receive booking fingerprints of illegal and legal immigrants from local jails.

Not all of the technology and programs were used on a grand scale other than at the U.S. border under Obama. That has changed during Trump's presidency.

Immigration raids in various U.S. cities this year have put many illegals on edge, but immigration authorities claim they are merely doing their job by arresting and deporting people who are in the country illegally.

After several raids and arrests of illegal aliens in February, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement defended what its agents are paid to do. Obama was known as the "Deporter in Chief" after 4,000 people were deported in 2012.
