Mere retaliation for two decapitated journalists isn't enough for Fox News commentator Geraldo Rivera — he wants to see their Islamic State executioners "beheaded."
On his Twitter
account, Rivera wrote:
After the latest atrocities by the group that is also known as ISIS, including beheading American journalists Steven Sotloff and James Foley, Rivera wrote, "ISIS is said to seek a USA declaration of war for prestige. We must teach them the truth of an old life lesson, to be careful what you wish for."
Rivera finds himself in good company — in a bipartisan reaction to the beheadings, lawmakers from both major parties are calling on the Obama administration to do something to combat the ISIS threat.
reports that Rivera was referring to President Barack Obama's comments in Estonia, in which he verified the authenticity of a gruesome ISIS video graphically showing the beheading of Sotloff, and commented that the United States wants to "degrade and destroy ISIS so that it's no longer a threat, not just to Iraq, but also the region and to the United States."
reports that Iraq's human rights minister, Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani, told the U.N Human Rights Council that in ISIS, Iraq is "facing a terrorist monster," guilty of horrific executions, sexual assaults, the deaths of over 1,400 people in August alone, and displacement of 1.2 million people from their homes.
U.N. Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights Flavia Pansieri said, "The reports we have received reveal acts of inhumanity on an unimaginable scale."
