The immigration crisis at the southern border "has to be some kind of concerted effort" by President Barack Obama to get migrant children into the system, Donald Trump charged Monday morning on "Fox and Friends."

"Later on, they'll become citizens, and they'll vote Democratic," the real estate mogul and reality star contended. "It really does seem like it cannot be this stupid. It just can't be this stupid ... We have such power over Mexico, we don't use it."

Trump also railed against statements by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel over the weekend that his administration wants to expand the amount of shelter available for migrant children, saying there are plans to house up to 1,000 additional young immigrants in the city by year's end, reports The Chicago Tribune.

He also wants to encourage the city's legal community to create a "broad-based pro-bono campaign" to counsel the immigrant children as federal authorities work to place them.

But already there are "pockets in Chicago that are a catastrophe," said Trump, with numerous shootings taking place. According to police, there were 23 shootings over this past weekend.

"It's disgraceful," Trump said. "But Chicago is a place I happen to love. I think it's great. And they got a lot of problems. This is not the way that you're going to solve the problem."

He complained that many of the immigrants have diseases, and speak neither English nor Spanish, but an "Indian dialect" that nobody here speaks.

"It's languages that we don't know in this country, and we're not equipped to handle," Trump said. "Now we're supposed to educate everybody. This is madness. What's going on in this country is madness."

"You're never going to get them back to where they're from," he said, adding that "our country can't handle it."

The United States is becoming a place where "we have no borders," Trump said. "We have no anything, so something has to take place. It has to take place fast."

Meanwhile, Trump said , there's only one person in Mexico who can't get back into the United States — U.S. Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi.

"He's the only one from Mexico that cannot get into our country," said Trump. "They're beating the hell out of him in prison."

Unlike Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, whom Trump called "our traitor," Tahmooressi has a "very solid citizen as a soldier."

To bring him back, Trump said, the United States needs to tell Mexico, "We're not doing business with you anymore."

Trump said United States is "a laughing stock all over the world because of President Barack Obama, who is doing a terrible job."
