Donald Trump is set to buy the Turnberry golf resort in Scotland on the South Ayrshire coast for 35 million pounds, which is about $58.8 million.
The deal is about to close on the property that is likely to host its fifth Open Championship in the next decade and is currently owned by a subsidiary of the Dubai government, Leisurecorp, The Telegraph
"The deal is not done yet, but it should be soon," a source told The Telegraph.
Leisurecorp purchased the resort for 52 million pounds in 2008, but put it up for sale since the emirate was hit by the global financial downturn.
If the deal goes through, Trump will be paying almost 17 million pounds less than the Dubai government, and it will total 17 resorts for the real estate mogul.
"Turnberry will be the gem to crown Trump's golf portfolio, and it is 95 percent certain to go through," another source told The Times.
"It's an open secret that Mr. Trump had wanted an Open venue. This would be a tremendous coup for him."
The resort includes three golf courses, a golf academy, a five-star hotel, and cottage accommodations.
