By Tim Hrenchir   |   Tuesday, 01 Sep 2015 06:41 PM

Older investors need to minimize risk to ensure their retirement fund lasts. Here are five stocks with a history of stability and success that make them good to invest in, regardless of market conditions or the investor’s age.

W.W. Grainger Inc. (NYSE: GWW)
This company sells maintenance and cleaning supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels. That may be a boring line of business, “but ‘boring’ is precisely what retirees need from their investments,” said StreetAuthority. And Grainger investors over the years have consistently cleaned up. The price of the stock per share rose from $111.43 on Sept. 3, 2010, to $223.23 on Aug. 28, 2015, according to MSN.
