Pope, Archbishop to Meet in Jerusalem

Wednesday, 16 Apr 2014 01:50 PM

By Luis Rosales

I recently was received by the patriarch of Constantinople, Bartholomew I, ecumenical archbishop of New Rome, at his episcopal palace in Istanbul, Turkey.

I took this opportunity to present him a copy of my book, "Francis: a Pope of Our Time," and was delighted to hear that His All Holiness promised to read it before his trip to Jerusalem with Pope Francis, planned for the end of May.

Editor's Note: Get Luis Rosales' book, "Francis: a Pope of Our Time" — Go Here Now.

This encounter at the Holy Land will be the first in history and could put an end to almost 1,000 years of misunderstandings and will contribute to the reunion of the whole Christian family, divided after the schism of 1054.

Bartholomew I greets the author.
From the 2.2 billion Christians who inhabit this planet, 1.2 billion are Catholics and recognize the authority of the Pope of Rome.

About 700 million are Protestants and Evangelicals in all their denominations, and around 300 million are Christian Orthodox, who follow Bartholomew's spiritual leadership as the primus inter pares of all the patriarchs.

The book could contribute to the better understanding between the two main Christian leaders, most important now that there is a big push for a reunification.

Luis Rosales was elected as the youngest state representative in Mendoza, Argentina, in 1989. In 2011 he was candidate for governor in Mendoza, representing Compromiso Federal, a union of three local and national conservative parties. He is the Latin American partner of Dick Morris. Together they have worked in more than a dozen presidential campaigns around the region. They have written the book “El Poder,”  about their experiences in Latin America and other parts of the world.
