Immigration enforcement is in chaos, a well-known opinion of conservatives, independents, and liberals for more than a decade. Add to this truism, the fact that comprehensive immigration reform in Congress is in chaos, the Senate Bill S-744 and the House of Representatives Democrats’ mirror bill HR 15, are both dying a slow death.

The nation is in a state of chaos — Syria indecision, Nigeria Islamic terrorist murders and kidnappings, Bengahzi killings of four Americans, IRS weekly scandals, Veterans’ Administration scandals, EPA employee pornography watching on taxpayer time, Keystone pipeline fiasco, and the Ukraine uncertainty to name a few causes of chaos.

Any immigration reform, comprehensive or incremental, faces the momentous question: Do the legislators and the American people trust President Obama to faithfully obey and enforce the laws of the United States? The answer does not bode well for immigration legislation.

The American people have little interest in immigration. Man-in-the-street questions show the average American has no idea about local, state, or federal government, let alone who their political leaders are, including who is the vice president of the United States. Young people, even those with college degrees, have little knowledge of American history and world geography.

An April 10, 2014, report in TheNew York Times tells how illegal alien crossing in one sector of the southern border has increased. The story’s headline, “Hoping for Asylum, Migrants Strain U.S. Border,” but this is an infinitesimal part of the immigration chaos story.

Immigration chaos involves the number of illegal aliens now in the country, how many coming in every day, the costs of services for the illegal aliens, the crime involving illegal aliens, the drug smuggling by illegal aliens, employment opportunities affected, and the impact of the American culture, educational resources, environment damage, and cost for social services and welfare.

The report refutes the President Obama and the Democrats spin that the borders are secure. It describes how thousands of illegal immigrants from Central America are crossing the country every month motivated by talk that people who are able to enter the United States are allowed to stay here, illegal or not. These thousands added to the thousands of Mexicans crossing illegally every month establishes a crisis on the border.

In just the Rio Grande Border Patrol sector, (there are nine Southern Border Patrol sectors) the site of the Times story, 90,700 apprehensions were made in the first half of the 2014 fiscal year. The story attributes the large number of crossings to the fact that the president has made it clear that once an illegal alien touches U.S. soil — deportation would be remote, especially those from non-contiguous counties.

The numbers of illegal aliens claiming asylum is unknown but it is huge. They come for free healthcare, education, food, income, and housing.

Illegal human crossings of the U.S. borders are used as a dodge by the drug smugglers to keep the Border Patrol busy with apprehensions while they bring the drugs across. The Mexican Drug Cartels (MDC) use the crime gangs as their enforcers and drug distributors in the U.S. The federal government has no accurate number, but estimates are that the crime gangs have 400,000 members, many are illegal aliens.

Chicago is the murder capital of the country with crime gangs having free reign with police afraid to enter sections of the city. Chicago with its strictest gun laws in the nation is in fact an illicit drug distribution center.

The gang members who illegal aliens are protected by the Obama administration orders about “prosecutorial discretion” and “deferred deportation,” and if a member is stopped by police, he or she just claims to be a “dreamer” and the officer immediately releases the gang banger.

The stopped gang member has the option to claim asylum which halts any further police intrusion, as the Obama administration has relaxed asylum requirements to a point of nonexistence.

The Obama Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) are now so politically controlled that they have no credibility. Former DOJ attorneys and FBI agents lament the moral decay of DOJ, and they are not alone. DHS immigration and Border Patrol agents decry the politicizing of their duties. The situation is so dire that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have filed suit challenging the Obama administration’s open-border policies and directives, including “prosecutorial discretion” and “deferred deportation.”

These are some facts that will help defeat any comprehensive immigration reform.

Meanwhile, the president bragged on February 10, “I can do whatever I want” — maybe not so.
